How to convert currency and units in Windows 11 Search

  1. Open Start and type $195 in GBP. Windows Search can show a currency conversion answer directly in its results.
  2. Type a unit conversion. Try 100 km/h in mph. Windows Search can show an interactive conversion widget, with controls for changing the units and amount.

To control whether web suggestions appear, open Settings, then Privacy & security, then Search.

Glassline keeps exchange rates on your PC for offline answers, shows their date and lets you choose how often they update.

  1. Install Glassline from the Microsoft Store. Open it to get Search on the Windows key, alongside its menu bar and dock.
  2. Turn on Convert currencies. Right-click the menu bar, choose Glassline Settings and open Search. Under Currency, turn on Convert currencies.
  3. Press the Windows key and type 100 usd to eur. Search shows the amount in euros, using the European Central Bank's daily rate. The rate's date is shown with the answer.

You can also type an amount without naming a target currency. Try 100 usd: Glassline answers in your own currency and the currencies you convert into most. Include to eur when you want that particular currency.

Keep rates for offline use

Glassline fetches exchange rates only when you type a currency in Search. It keeps those rates on your PC, so currency conversions still work offline. Check the date beside the answer to see which day's rate you are using. The rates are for information only.

  1. Open Glassline Settings, then Search. Find Update exchange rates under Currency.
  2. Choose Every day, Every week or Never. This sets how often rates can refresh when you type a currency. Never keeps the rates already saved; if there are none, Glassline fetches them once.
  1. Press the Windows key and type 100 km/h in mph. Search shows the speed in miles per hour.
  2. Replace the query with 1500 mb to gb. Search shows the file-size conversion in the same place.

Search converts length, weight, temperature, volume, speed, area, file sizes, connection speeds and time. Unit names work in English, Spanish, German, Polish, French and Brazilian Portuguese.

For the other things you can do in that field, see using Glassline Search.
